Passbook was a feature I was skeptical of when iOS 6 was announced. Of course I liked the idea, but it was up to companies to actually bring the support. However, it is off to a promising start. Starbucks, Target, Delta and American Airlines, and other companies are beginning to integrate the service into their applications. Well, joining the aforementioned Delta Airlines and American Airlines, British Airways will begin to support Passbook for its boarding passes.
A reader of AppleInsider got this information via an email conversation with British Airways, where the representative told him:
I’m pleased to confirm that the ba.com team are already looking into our website being able to work with the new Apple app, available with the iOS6 upgrade. Please be assured that we will get our Passbook-compatible functionality live on ba.com as soon as we can.
So those of you that are frequent British Airway fliers can rest assured that it is in the progress of working on Passbook support. I personally use Passbook somewhat frequently for Starbucks, and have once before for Delta. I hope to see many other companies take this up in the following months as I love the idea of a digital wallet.
What do you think? Are you a British Airways frequent? Glad to hear it is going to support Passbook? Let us know in the comments, or tweet me @TiP_Kyle.
