AT&T launching 4G LTE in 16 new markets today

AT&T has some catching up to do if it wants to boast the same level of LTE coverage as its biggest rival, Verizon. But, the US’ number 2 carrier is certainly trying to do just that. Earlier in the week, Big Blue opened up its 4th generation network to 8 new markets. Today, the carrier is launching its LTE network in 16 more locations, bringing its total for the week up to 24. Not bad.

If you’re in one of the following areas, you’ll be getting faster download speeds on your AT&T iPhone 5 from today:

  • Charleston, S.C.
  • Columbia, S.C.
  • Columbus, Ohio
  • Corvallis, Ore.
  • Downriver Wayne & Monroe Counties, Det.
  • El Paso, Tex.
  • Eugene, Ore.
  • Fairfield County, Conn.
  • Greater Mobile, Ala.
  • Greenville, S.C.
  • Jonesboro, Ark.
  • Pensacola, Fla.
  • Portland, Maine
  • Saratoga & Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
  • South Bend, Ind.

What do you make of AT&T’s claims of having the best 4G coverage in the States? Is HSPA+ really 4G? Let us know your thoughts.
