Verizon iPhone 5 using cellular data when connected to Wi-Fi? There’s a fix for that…

Since its launch, the iPhone 5 has encountered a few hiccups. Although it may not be as widespread as some of the other problems, Verizon iPhone 5′s have been subject to some odd software/firmware issues. It turns out that many of them, when connected to a good Wi-Fi network would still be making use of the carrier’s cellular network rather than switching to use the wireless connection.

Thankfully, Apple has issued a fix. Here’s what you need to do to update your settings:

  1. Go to Settings>General>About
  2. You’ll then see an alert like the one pictured above.
  3. Hit “OK”
  4. Press and hold the power/lock key until you see the usual “slide to power off” icon
  5. Slide to power off
  6. Switch your phone back on, and you’re all done.

Once you’ve completed the incredibly simple steps, your phone should be error-free and using the Wi-Fi connection when it’s hooked up.

I went to settings>general>about and didn't get that alert.  Does that mean my phone is fine? I have the 4S.
