Verizon iPhone 5 using cellular data when connected to Wi-Fi? There’s a fix for that…
Since its launch, the iPhone 5 has encountered a few hiccups. Although it may not be as widespread as some of the other problems, Verizon iPhone 5′s have been subject to some odd software/firmware issues. It turns out that many of them, when connected to a good Wi-Fi network would still be making use of the carrier’s cellular network rather than switching to use the wireless connection.
Thankfully, Apple has issued a fix. Here’s what you need to do to update your settings:
- Go to Settings>General>About
- You’ll then see an alert like the one pictured above.
- Hit “OK”
- Press and hold the power/lock key until you see the usual “slide to power off” icon
- Slide to power off
- Switch your phone back on, and you’re all done.
Once you’ve completed the incredibly simple steps, your phone should be error-free and using the Wi-Fi connection when it’s hooked up.
