Thank You! An open letter to everyone
Dear All,
I’m writing to you because this is my 2,000th post for TiP, and I was determined that it wasn’t going to be another news piece on lawsuits, rumors, leaks or anything else. I wanted to thank everyone who reads, has invested in or taken part in Today’s iPhone since its journey began over two and a half years ago.
My own personal journey here at TodaysiPhone.com has been a very interesting one to say the least. I started off with very little blogging experience in January 2010. I replied to a tweet from our founder and former Managing Editor, Adriana Lee, and from then on it’s been incredible. I wasn’t expecting to get a writing role anywhere – even if it was voluntary to begin with. Somehow, I was promoted to Assistant Editor then Associate Editor in the space of 6 months. By the time Adriana left, I was the only person within the site in a position to take over the day-to-day running. Looking back, I’m still not sure how it happened. I know how hard I worked to prove myself that’s for sure, but, to say that I assumed the role was mine was about as far from the truth as you could get.
I mean this literally, and without exaggeration: I’m grateful every day that I get to write about tech as my vocation. It’s truly a dream come true. It’s never taken for granted.
So, with that said, I can’t go on without saying thank you. To all the readers who check out our site, we would not be here without you. I would probably be stuck in retail selling phones to people if I wasn’t here. Heaven knows how much I hate sales. I appreciate that you take the time to read our news and reviews. I love that you engage in our content. Thanks to all of you who “like” us on Facebook, and follow us on twitter. I don’t care if you love or hate Apple, if you’ve ever taken time out of your day to read what we have to say: thank you.
I also want to thank my team: Jake Rosati, Daniel Rohm, Matt Sholly, Stephen Warwick, Jennifer Beese, Kyle Frost, Cameron Buchan and Sam Adams who contribute to our site and for those who have contributed in the past. I couldn’t wish for a better bunch to work with. Each has a passion for what they do, and do it well. A special thanks to David Beren, Phonedog’s Director of Network sites, who somehow balances running TmoNews and DroidDog while still giving time to me to bounce ideas off, and give me feedback. Thanks also to Tom Klein, Rebecca Atwood and the others who work day in and day out behind the scenes at Phonedog Media HQ to ensure we have the brightest future possible. (Apologies to anyone I’ve forgotten).
I know she probably won’t read, but I’m also very grateful to Adriana who gave me a chance in the first place.
I’ve been Managing Editor now since April 2011, and I enjoy it as much as I always have. So, thank you, *raises glass*, cheers and here’s to another 2,000 posts.
I sincerely hope we can continue to serve you as well as we have so far and continue to grow and improve. That is our aim each day.
If you have any feedback or comments, feel free to leave them below, tweet me @TiP_Cam or send me an email: TiPEditor@TodaysiPhone.com
Best regards,
Cam Bunton, Managing Editor at TodaysiPhone.com
Of course I'm reading this, Cam. While I am proud of what you've accomplished, the credit totally and completely belongs to you. TiP was "my baby," and it's yours now. It's terrific to see it continue on under such great leadership.
Here's to 2,000 more, mate! ~a
