Rumor: iPad mini accessories boxed and ready to ship in China
News is coming out of China this morning stating that many accessory manufacturers in Asia already have iPad mini accessories ready and waiting in packages to ship. The information comes via Brian White, of Topeka Capital Markets who recently went on a tour of China. He reportedly spoke to many of his sources and witnessed first hand many shipments packed full of third party accessories designed specifically for the – as yet unreleased – smaller iPad. Mr. White also allegedly got his hand on a “pilot” model of the miniature tablet, which he said fitted comfortably in to his coat pocket.
As I’ve maintained since iPad mini rumors first emerged, I’m still not entirely convinced that any of this speculation will become anything more solid. We know there’s a gap for a smaller iPad in the market, it’s the pricing that makes it hard to understand and place. Logic states that if an iPod touch costs $300, how much is a larger version going to cost? I cannot see how it can be made any less expensive than the newest generation of touchscreen media players.
