When it comes to decorative skins and cases for iPhone, their a dime a dozen these days. And even though the iPhone 5 has only been out for a few weeks, there is certainly no shortage in options for Apple’s brand new smartphone. One peculiar option is the i-Paint Hard Case and Skin. Designed by an Italian company, and costing 19.90EUR (approx $26 USD), the Hard Case + Skin does what it says on the packaging. It’s a hard, soft-touch rear shell coupled with a decorative skin for the front of your device. The skin is made up of two parts, with no covering for your device’s bezel.
On first looks, it certainly seems adequate. It’s a great feeling rear shel, but with only 11 designs available right now, you may struggle to find one that suits your taste. That said, the execution of the design on the rear shell is good. The British flag in particular isn’t bright and garish, instead it has an authentic, patriotic charm. It’s the skin that could do with the work. Attention to detail on the cutouts and the edges is a little poor, and could be smartened up. The edges are a little rough, and white, where the paint should cover. Another issue I had was that the site claims there are matching wallpapers available, and yet, I cannot find any at all, even searching for “wallpapers” yields no results.
All-in-all, it’s not a bad case/skin combination. Certainly worth considering. To check out the range and i-Paint’s other options, head on over to: http://www.ipaintstore.it/
[UPDATE: i-Paint got back to me. Plans are afoot to launch a new site soon, with a very easy method of accessing the wallpapers. So, a “coming soon” on that one.]
