Sir Jony Ive, Apple’s SVP of design is embarking on a slightly off-course product. During the launch of Leica’s expensive new M series, the company’s chief, Dr. Andreas Kaufmann confirmed that he and Ive are partnering to create a one-off version of the Leica M. Literally only one camera will be produced and then sold at a charity auction. With the official released versions set to cost north of $5k, I can’t imagine how much the one-of-a-kind setup will set any Apple/Leica fanboy back. It’s probably not worth thinking about. Big numbers hurt my head. Needless to say, it’ll be more than a few thousand dollars.
