Phil Schiller: “No iPhone 5 dock”

It appears that Apple will not be releasing a dock for the iPhone 5. Over the past few years, it’s been the norm that Apple releases a dock alongside the iPhone, however an email from Phil Schiller , published by 9to5 Mac, has confirmed that Apple will not be releasing such a dock this time.

Schiller cited that:

“Most people who use docks use them with speaker or clock systems”

That seems like reasonable logic, however I’m sure that there will be a couple of disgruntled customers out there. Are you one of them?

3rd parties will make them, and they'll likely be better than the Apple official dock anyway

Nate B Apple is cracking down on third party manufacturers making unapproved apple products. There will still be makers, but Apple is doing things to stop them. Like updates to iOS that make a/v cords that are not made by apple with the installed microchip in them, will not work. This is backwards compatible too, impacting older ipods and iphones. They made the new connector to make money...money for apple...not third parties lol
