iPhone 5 vs S3: The drop test

Many Android apologetics would argue that the iPhone’s premium hardware makes it fragile. The internet is littered with pictures of cracked iPhones. I think everyone on the planet knows someone who has broken an iPhone.

However, the latest results suggest that iPhone 5 is a lot tougher than the Galaxy S3. A drop test conducted by Android Authority shows that the iPhone 5 is much tougher than it looks. Picking up a few scratches and blemishes, it destroyed the S3, the screen of which completely shattered.

Take a look!

This test is hardly provides any conclusive evidence.  Look at the second drop test.  He simply dropped the iPhone 5, while the SIII was "flung" upward a little bit.  In order for there to be any definitive evidence, both phones would have to be dropped EXACTLY the same way, fall the EXACT same way, and land in the EXACT same manner to prove anything.  You definitely need to run a number of tests to provide any solid evidence that the iPhone 5 is indeed more durable than the Galaxy SIII.  I hope you have deep pockets!

These tests are hardly reliable, considering only one trial is performed, when really many more trials should be performed if you want a good sample of data.

@guest3221 agree! I suggest you buy a few dozen of each and start dropping. I will record all trials.

I always have a hard time liking videos that are drop tests.  Mostly because, hey, somebody could use that phone you're destroying! Also, I've dropped my 4S a few times on concrete and not had any broken glass, scuffs, or anything because I have it in a case, as most people do.  But I do see the value of these things and as a converted apple fanboy, I like to see the iPhone win a couple here and there.
