iPhone 5 shipping time increases further to 3 weeks+

Only a couple of hours after the iPhone 5 became available for pre-order, the first batch was sold out increasing the shipping time estimate to 1-2 weeks. 5 days later and it’s slipped further. If you order a 6th generation iPhone through Apple’s US online store now, you’ll likely have to wait 3-4 weeks before the latest and greatest makes its way to your doorstep.

Having it slip back so quickly to what is essentially a month of waiting is incredible, but also unfortunate for those who can’t get to a store. There are other options if you must have it as soon as possible. 3rd party retailers like BestBuy, RadioShack and Walmart are expected to carry the device (ring your local branch just to make sure), also – Verizon and AT&T outlets will have stock on Friday the 21st. If you’re near a busy store, you may need to get in line the night before.

Will you wait for the early-adopter craze to die down, are you happy waiting a few weeks for the new iPhone or do you need to have it now?
