iPhone 5 Nano-SIMs to show up at T-mobile US in October?

There’s an interesting story circulating the web today, originating from our very own sister site, TmoNews. David Beren got hold of a leaked screen shot showing Tmo’s plans to start stocking iPhone 5-friendly Nano SIMs from October.

Magenta has been hard at work pushing through the refarming of its spectrum to an iPhone compatible band. Although we’re not sure when that’s going to be launched officially, we do know that something is happening. Tmo has prepared an aggressive campaign against its competition by telling buyers to switch to its cheaper unlimited plans, using an unlocked iPhone.

As you may know, the iPhone isn’t compatible with T-mobile’s 3G network, meaning that its 1 million or so iOS users have to make do with the much slower EDGE technology. Once the refarming goes through, iPhone’s with the right chipset will be able to take advantage of the HSPA+ network labelled “4G”.

Keep your eye on TmoNews for developments on this over the coming months. They’re always the first to hear anything on the Magenta grapevine.
