iPhone 5 Lightning Connector may support direct USB material hosting

According to Macotakara, Apple’s new iPhone 5 connector has the ability to host USB peripheral devices. This could mean Apple will allow iPhone 5 customers to connect devices such as keyboards and other Lightning-equipped mobile products to their iPhones.

Even if Macotakara is correct in their report, Apple would have to build device support for this to happen on top of the lightning compatibility so that manufacturers can use the USB capabilities. This isn’t completely unlikely as Apple has already done a similar thing with their iPad Camera Connection kit.

Don’t get too excited, though. Apple has had this ability with its 30 Pin connector for many years, and not much ever came of it. That being said, I can’t deny that it’s interesting that they added this ability even though they have never used it. Let’s hope Apple’s got some plans for this feature in the near future!

A possible 12 megapixel camera on the iPhone 5 will provide even greater clarity when capturing photos and video clips in High Definition

I'd love to be able to plug in other useful devices such as an external hard drive to import pictures and videos made with said device. Other than that, I can't really think of anything else besides something that people in medical fields could use with their mobiles devices :/
