iPhone 5 has “laser keyboard and holographic features” according to Fox 5 News [Video]

You may be used to Fox 5 News’ debatable coverage by now, but the network just sank to a new level of shoddy-ness. The latest report showing the lines outside the 5th Ave store also claims that the next iPhone will have a laser keyboard and holographic pictures. I’m not entirely sure what Fox 5 is playing at, but I certainly feel sorry for anyone who takes this as fact, because they’re in for a shock. Is this what you’ve come to expect from news channel, or do you take nothing it reports seriously? (Blunder starts around 0:45)

how could you seriously find all this bullshit stuff, but not actually find the real iPhone 5? everything was leaked, and on top of that apples website has the image all over the place.... exactly why fox news is a TERRIBLE source

Someone just lost their job. Pretty pathetic that they didn't actually research the features first before actually talking about the phone.

That's what happens when you assign someone who knows zilch about tech to cover it.  I think those vids actually came out last yr when there was speculation about the 4s (being called iphone 5) and it's spec and were clearly concept videos.

Cam, I usually try to defend you when folks give you grief, but you need to know the difference between "Fox News" and a local affiliate.  You're letting your bias show in a whole new way, here.   "Is this what you’ve come to expect from FOX, or do you take nothing it reports seriously?"  Really?  I might be inclined to let that slide, but to pin something someone at a local affiliate says as being part of "Fox" would be like going into your local "licensed retailer" and crediting what the cashier says to AT&T, Sprint or whoever.   Or, for a better reference, it'd be like going down to Big Tex's Ford & Dodge dealership & thinking you're dealing with Ford Motor Corporation.  They're licensed to dispense a product... nothing more, nothing less.

BrainRoopull I'm British.. none of those references mean anything to me. Besides, no one's giving me any grief on this one except you. ;-)

BrainRoopull 22 pts

TiP_Cam If those references don't mean anything to you, then at least do some research so you know the difference between an affiliate and Fox News.  They're not the same thing.  I do find it almost impossible to believe that you don't understand the difference between a car dealer and the corporation making the cars.  They do have car dealerships in Britain.

As for the bias, I have to point something out to you.  When you don't like something, you ask a question of your readers and propose two possible answers.  Perhaps you don't even realize you're doing it, but you've done it enough for me to notice.  In the above example, in reference to Fox, you say, "Is this what you've come to expect from Fox," suggesting perhaps idiotic reporting is par for the course for them.  Your other proposed option is "Or do you take nothing it reports seriously?"   Again... a negative option. If you were impartial, not that I'm saying you have to be, you'd propose two opposing questions.  For example, "Is this what you've come to expect from Fox, or do you think this is just an anomaly?"  Even that, however, isn't necessary.  I doubt anyone is coming to TiP for commentary on your preferred news outlets. It is worth pointing out that Fox routinely obliterates the competition in ratings in news.  I'm not making that up...http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/category/cable-news/I'm sharing that so you can have a better understanding of who you're bashing.  It's a larger portion of America than you may believe.

BrainRoopull I think when it comes to Fox, and all its networks/affiliates, I'm happy to tar them all with the same brush. Especially when it comes to getting facts mixed up, or not paying attention to the quality of their output. They're popular for a reason, in the same way that The Sun is the most popular newspaper in the UK. Often with inflammatory headlines, and often not getting facts correct. Why? Because they attract a larger audience by pandering to the masses, creating entertaining news rather than factual. If it's part of News Corp, it's okay with me to "stick it to the man", especially when it's only partly in jest, and in a post that's nothing like a critical assessment of fair and biased news coverage. I find it hilarious that anyone can push out this content, and that deserves questioning. I'm okay with being biased sometimes.

TiP_Cam Out of curiosity, where do you get your news, then?  I don't see any of the TV news outlets as being any better or worse than Fox.  Well, okay...  CNN and MSNBC are just laughable in my opinion, but the others aren't much better than them.Your portrayal of Fox seems just equally appropriate for any of the TV news outlets. This is actually something I have found quite frustrating to be honest with you.  I disconnected cable over a decade ago and generally depend on the internet and radio for news.  Even those, however, are a minefield of bias and nonsense.  A good example was the supposed news story about Romney's comments this morning regarding the "47%" who don't pay taxes.  The story was plucked from Mother Jones' website and ran as though it was a real news story.  I'm not saying there isn't a story there, but even NPR ran a piece with Mother Jones as the ONLY source!  So, is it just Fox & News Corp, or are there others under that brush?

BrainRoopull Thankfully, we have the BBC over here, which - news wise - does have the tendency to be a little bland and lacking in any opinion. But, being public/tax funded means they aren't allowed to show bias, and normally stick to the facts. If I need plain information about anything, I normally go to them. I don't ready any papers. I would tar our Channel 5/4 news, and Sky News with the same brush. To be honest, like most, I use online predominantly for most of my consumption.

TiP_Cam We can actually get the BBC in various forms over here, as well.  You're right... a little bland.  I suppose our version is NPR, but they're rather biased toward the liberal/big government side.  Considering they're funded by government, that shouldn't surprise anyone.
