Good news! AT&T will be “grandfathering” unlimited data for iPhone 5 buyers
Great news for existing AT&T customers. In the press release regarding the new iPhone 5′s details, AT&T’s official spiel included much poetic waxing about the latest super phone from Apple. Among which was a friendly paragraph directed at existing customers:
“We are thrilled to offer iPhone 5 on the nation’s largest 4G network. We’ve worked with Apple since the original in 2007 and this is hands-down their best phone yet,” said Ralph de la Vega, president & CEO, AT&T Mobility. “We offer customers the flexibility to keep the iPhone data plans they already have or choose any of our individual or new Mobile Share plans. We’re proud that more customers choose AT&T for iPhone than any other U.S. carrier and look forward to making iPhone 5 the newest addition to our lineup.”
This could well ensure that many of “Big Blue”‘s customers remain with them even as the LTE network status could entice customers across to the better equipped competitor, Verizon. Although the new iPhone does feature 4G LTE, it looks as though existing unlimited data subscribers will not pay a premium just for having a new 4G device.
