Rumor: Recent Apple retail hires getting the axe

Apple store employees have recently reached out to fellow Apple news source, MacRumors, reporting that recent hires have been getting laid off left and right in the United Kingdom and in other select spots around the world.

A specific report from a U.K. retail store claims that all employees with less than six months experience working at the store have been let go.  This trend has also been reported from an unnamed Apple retail store where supposedly a batch of newly hired employes have just been fired, and workers who were supposed to be given promotions have been demoted without a pay raise.

This trend has not yet been reported in the United States or Canada, but some part time employees have had drastic work time cuts, with some reported to be down to zero hours. Also some American employees are facing vacation time cuts as well.

My personal theory for the reasoning of the U.K. lay offs is that with the conclusion of the Olympic Games, not as many international visitors will be present, thus resulting in a decreased need for extra employees. It is always possible that Apple just wants to cut the budget down to size, and firing employees is the easiest to do that. Though, considering the company’s massive success, that doesn’t seem likely. Whatever the reason, my heart goes out to those have been laid off, and I hope they can recover soon.

What do you guys think the reasoning is for the recent Apple store lay offs? Let me know in the comments.
