MobileMe finally dies as Apple officially closes iWork.com

The day has finally come: MobileMe is completely gone. Anyone visiting the MobileMe site will be redirected to iCloud, no longer even having the option to transition there account to iCloud as they have been able to this entire past month of July. Now, with August here and an iCloud revamp on the horizon with iOS 6, MobileMe no longer lives. The service went down “officially” on June 30th of this year, but users were given this past month of July to get all of there files in order and make the leap to iCloud. For those that didn’t, it’s too late.

This isn’t just a random day though, as over a month ago Apple posted a sign on iWork.com reminding users that the service was ending July 31st. Well that day has come and gone, and so has iWork.com. Now when visiting iWork.com, you are redirected to Apple’s standard apple.com website. It was believed to be unlikely that Apple would give iWork.com users the same 30 day grace period that average MobileMe users were given, and this is appearing to be correct. MobileMe is gone. Now, for the iCloud era to be put in full gear.

What do you think? Sad to see it go? Glad Apple is sticking to it’s work and going all in on iCloud? Let us know in the comments.
