Judge asks Apple attorneys if they are “smoking crack”

Well, that escalated quickly (catch the reference?). Stories from the Apple -v- Samsung court case keep coming in, and this one is quite entertaining. Apparently, Judge Koh thinks that Apple’s attorneys may just be “smoking crack” because of a document they submitted. Here’s the quote:

“…when unless you’re smoking crack you know these witnesses aren’t going to be called!”

The document was a 75 page briefing on 22 rebuttal witnesses that they had in case they needed to counter Samsung presented. Well, with this insane statement by the Judge, the first response from Apple attorney William Lee was “First, your honor, I’m not smoking crack. I can promise you that.” Then agreed that Apple would shorten it, believing they would indeed have time to call all the witnesses, stating that some were Samsung’s own.

I think our friends over at DroidDog said it best: “Even if that document was a waste of the courts time, that reaction was still completely unwarranted and unprofessional.” This case is insane enough, now it’s just even more so.

What do you think? Was this called for? Unprofessional? Or just plain funny? Let us know in the comments.

If you watch Judge Judy she says a lot more mean stuff than crack.. Judge Judy yells and screams at your face and constantly regard others in the court with insults. These are tactics Judges do so they intimidate/scare you so you'll be able to respond to them quicker also assists on getting the truth out of the people.

This is all dumb. It's a common expression. It, while not professional, does not mean the judge legitimately thinks Apple's attorneys are smoking crack.

Appropriate or funny??  Maybe from a McDonalds cashier, NOT from a courtroom judge!

If I was one of the attourneys I would have said: "order in the court" and put the judge in shame!

I give props to the judge. People need to realize that acting professional at all times gets in the way of the truth. Apple is being completely ridiculous and its about time someone made that clear to them. I applaud this judge for saying what everyone else wants to and not letting 'professionalism' bog him down.

Now if you ask the same thing to the judge you go to jail!

Very funny on the surface, but is truly a mockery of our court system...
