App Watch: Skype update brings photo sharing to iPad/iPhone

Although it seems a little baffling that it wasn’t there before, the newest update to the Skype app for iPhone and iPad now gives you – the user – the ability to share photos in a chat. The latest version (4.1) will let you snap a photo, or share one from your camera roll. It also features some other, smaller updates:

Send and receive photos
Updated privacy setting
Fixed bug related to Bluetooth and calls
Minor visual improvements across the app
Other minor bug fixes

The advantage of using this over another service like email or MMS, is that there’s no limit to the file size. So – as long as you’re hooked up to a decent wireless connection – you can send full resolution images to your friends and family without paying for it. Battery woes should be a thing of the past too, as the developers have been working hard to make the program run more efficiently. All in all, it’s good news for everyone.

Skype is available free on the App Store.
