TomTom releases new iPhone car-kit

TomTom and Apple’s relationship has gone from obscurity to best pals over the past few years. With iOS 6 comes a brand new, redesigned Maps app using data from TomTom as well as a few other companies. My experience with the beta version has been incredible. The famous Sat Nav brand has now released a brand new in-car kit.

The TomTom Hands Free Car Kit promises excellent call quality thanks to a loud and clear loudspeaker and some clever noise cancellation. It also comes with a removable microphone to be placed in the best position for voice detection. It’s pretty versatile too and can be stuck on to your windscreen or dashboard. The car kit is available in two models, one for iPhone with 30 pin dock connector, and one with Micro USB for other smartphones. It can be used in landscape or portrait mode, with or without a case.

It’s available now in Europe for £80 (around $125 USD). According to Chris Oldroyd at iMore, the car kit makers are planning to release it in a package deal with the TomTom Western Europe app for £130. You can purchase it from TomTom’s online store.
