The Gold Master of OS X Mountain Lion is now available through the OS X Dev Center. For those that don’t know, a Gold Master is the last step in the software development process before a public release. In other words, it’s basically the finished product released to developers a bit earlier than everyone else. So the Gold Master that went live today is almost exactly what consumers will be greeted with when they upgrade next month.

This is exciting news, as things are definitely happening over at Apple. It shouldn’t be too long before we see the next beta and subsequent Gold Master of iOS 6, which is currently on beta 2. When Mountain Lion launches, it’ll be the first of three major Apple product launches in a relatively short time period. The second being iOS 6 and the third (probably) the elusive next-gen iPhone.
