Latest rumor: iPhone 5 release date, September 21st

iMore has heard from one of its “previously reliable” sources that the next iPhone will make its first appearance on store shelves on September 21st. According to the same informant, Apple will be holding the Keynote unveiling on September 12th (9 days earlier) and will not only launch the iPhone 5/6/whatever they call it, but will also be announcing the rumored 7.85″ iPad. Since this comes from iMore, I’m not as skeptical as I would be. And yet, I will not be so bold as to say that it’s the truth.

It is a few weeks earlier than the launch timeframe from last year. (That’s if we’re presuming that Cupertino simply pushed their regular 12 month release cycle back a few months for the 4S to make space for new software at WWDC.) Nevertheless, I don’t expect that a 21st of September launch is miles away from what will be the eventual, official launch day.

Whatever the case may be, we’ll find out about the 6th iPhone when Apple tells us, not a minute sooner.
