iPad 3 set for China release this month

It seems a little inappropriate to call Apple’s new iPad the new… Uhm… iPad. It’s been around for a while now, and its well established in the market. Being the 3rd generation iPad, I find it rather nonsensical to call it anything but the iPad 3, regardless of subliminal branding. If you find yourself disposed otherwise, apologies.

Apple’s new iPad/iPad 3/3rd Generation iPad/awesome tablet thing has just been given a China release date, July 20. This is huge for Apple in light of their huge legal battle with Chinese company Proview, a case that has now been settled. China is Apple’s second largest market, and therefore pivotal to the success of its devices.

The pricing announced so far complies with the current US pricing, so prices will start at $499 for the base model, progressing onto $829 for the 64GB Wi-Fi/LTE variant.

If you pop back in 10 days time, you may well find a story reporting chaotic scenes of violence and egg-throwing on release day. Although, it’s likely that the “iPad 3″ has probably been on sale in China for a couple of years…
