I love KickStarter. Ever since its conception it’s been home to many exciting projects. Although some are struggling to get going, others have hit the ground running. This latest one, I hope, will fit in to the latter of the two categories.
FLASHr is a case designed to make use of your iPhone’s notification LED. Whenever you receive a call, text or other notification, the case lights up and flashes with the extravagance akin to a New Year’s eve firework display. To use it all you need to do is access the accessibility options within the settings app and switch on “LED Flash for Alerts.”
The reason I love this case so much is that it reminds me of my very first mobile phone accessory. Back when I had a Nokia 3310, I had a phone stand the lit up and went crazy every time I was about to receive a call or text message. It mused have used the radio frequencies to detect when I could expect some form of communication. Whatever it was, I thought it was like magic. Plus, it allowed me to surprise my friends when I answered the phone a split second after it started ringing.
FLASHr was designed by Phase 5, a duo from New Orleans who combined their passion for artistic design, to create something that not only looked hot, but served a genuine purpose. If you want to get your hands on one you can pledge on the KickStarter page. With 28 days still to go, FLASHr has reached $21,000 of its $75,000 target.
