Reminder: MobileMe ends June 30th
Well, the time is coming. MobileMe is ending. June 30th is the day folks. Apple making sure that you are completely, 100 percent, absolutely positively certain of this fact by sending out emails informing you of what you can do. The email (screenshot above) informs users that they can download all their photos stored in the MobileMe gallery, download all their cloud files in iDisk, and tells them they need to move all their websites in iWeb to a different host. iCloud is the one to reign supreme now. If you haven’t already made the leap, or didn’t last year soon after iCloud was introduced, then now is the time.
It’s bitter-sweet to see the service go. It was the beginning of Apple’s foray into cloud computing, and though it wasn’t the best ($99 a year anyone?), it wasn’t the worst either. iDisk was a functionality I used quite often, but have since found other ways to manage my files. iCloud though, is going to be a good replacement from here on out. Apple wants to remind everyone though, that it requires iOS 5, OS X Lion, or Windows 7 or Vista SP2.
Any of you still use MobileMe? What services to do you/are you going to use now instead? Let us know in the comments.
