Official Podcasts app: First Looks & Gallery
Apple finally unveiled its long-needed Podcasts app today. If you don’t have it yet, head over to the App Store and you should see it in the featured carousel as soon as you open the store. If you’re worried about saving bandwidth, or just curious about how it looks, I’ve compiled a series of screenshots to show in detail everything that’s within the app.
If you’ve seen the new App Store and iTunes designs released alongside iOS 6 at the launch event earlier this month, you’ll be familiar with the design and layout. You can view the top podcasts, and switch between video and audio only shows using the virtual toggle at the top of the screen. For a more App Store like experience, hit “Catalogues” in the bottom left and you’ll gain access to different categories and the usual “New and Noteworthy” offerings.
Once the shows you want have been subscribed to, you can view them in your own library and have the option to auto-download, and also share your podcasts with friends/family via Facebook/Twitter/Message or Email. There are other options like choosing not to keep older shows, or marking them as played/unplayed.
