LUNATIK Touch Pen: First Looks & Gallery
KickStarter can be a little hit and miss when it comes to what products actually see the light of day (regardless of whether or not it gets all the funding required to launch). Thankfully, MNML’s LUNATIK Touch Pen is one that did make it through to the real world. The guys were kind enough to send a couple my way.
I was sent both the premium Touch Pen Alloy and the Touch Pen Polymer. The Alloy pen is stunning to look at and has a nice weight in hand. The body is crafted from aircraft grade aluminum, with a grippier rubber material covering the end, forming the inductive nib. One click at the top reveals a rollerball ink pen, meaning you can write on paper or use it as a stylus on your iPad/iPhone. It’s a fantastic idea, and one which I’m grateful for. LUNATIK Touch Pen Alloy is available for pre-order now on the online store for $39.95. The polymer case is more plasticcy, and comes in a choice of five colors: black, white, yellow, magenta and cyan. It’s much lighter – which for some is a good thing – and cheaper at $19.95 (again, available for pre-order here.)
First impressions are good. One of the capacitive ends broke (on the Polymer one) but I’m pretty convinced that was the result of one of my kids chewing on the end. If you want a really practical stylus/pen, that looks and feels great in hand, the LUNATIK range is definitely worth considering.
