Kindle App updated to support comic books…uglier now?

So I’m not sure about you, but I actually enjoy reading books. I enjoy them a lot more now that they aren’t mandated for school. One of my favorite apps since I first got my iPad has been the Kindle app. No, I didn’t forget about iBooks, I just prefer the Kindle app. It looks great, I have been using it for a long time, and I already have a ton of books on there. All these things just got bumped up a notch…or down.

The Kindle app has been updated in the App Store and has a couple changes in tow. One of the big features is that it now supports children’s titles and comic books. The are over 1000 titles already available and hopefully we’ll see that grow. Another change that was made is to the reader section. Looking at the picture above, you can notice the updated version on the right side. It now has contrasting black bars on both the top and bottom. Not sure what inspired this change, but it’s there.

Personally, I like the “old” look better. It looked cleaner and appeared to have a more unified look. Don’t get me wrong, this new look isn’t awful. I just don’t think Amazon took a step forward with this update. But hey, that’s just my opinion. What do you guys think? Do you like the new look? Does it even make that much of a difference to you?
