iPhone 5 mockup goes viral – transparent Retina display and holographic keyboard in tow

iPhone concepts always grab my attention, especially when they have futuristic design and incredible features (no matter how unlikely). The most recent that’s gone viral is the one in the video above, posted on YouTube by channel, AdneyFilms. It features an incredible looking transparent “iClear”  display with Retina sharpness. Transparent displays may have made their way in to the phone market, via the Sony Ericsson premium handset, Xperia Pureness. However, that display was a little less than impractical and was clearly used as a luxury gimmick that few people ever experienced. In short: we’re not going to see one anytime soon. (Where are the battery and internal components going to go?) That said, it still looks breathtaking.

Alongside the display comes the often touted holographic keyboard, which is a little more likely – but, still most likely not coming soon.

Clearly amazing. The quad-core A5 chip delivers even more power. The laser projection keyboard liberates your thumbs. The new iClear Retina display presents sharp graphics and stunning images. iOS 6 will take your iPhone experience in an entirely new direction. And if there’s anything else you need, just ask Siri.”

Frankly, this kind of technology dreaming is up there with hover boards and artificial intelligence. If someone cracks the transparent display and holographic keyboard, that would be all kinds of awesome. It’s quite possibly the most innovative and exciting concept I’ve ever seen.

There have been concepts like this before.

It's very cool One concept that I like to see that may happen is the back sides multi touch. Imagine typing from back never smearing your screen. I like to see what it be like. Also Im interested in haptic touch technology apple is working on. These things may actually come some day.

Great concept, but doesn't at all seem very practical. Yet, anyway.

The holographic keyboard has been around for quite some time, the problem is fitting it in such a small area. The transparent display is awesome. Great concept

What happens if you put a case on it?
