I think it is safe to say that as of today, Angry Birds is the most popular app to ever hit the iOS App Store. The franchise has taken iPhone games to new heights and brought incredible attention to the once unknown Rovio. Most of the success came from the first installment of the game and with every add on and upgrade, the popularity grew immensely. After a new tweet, it doesn’t look like it is slowing down anytime soon.

Rovio tweeted today that the Angry Birds Space game, the successor to the original Angry Birds game, has hit 100 million downloads. Yes you read that right, 100,000,000 downloads! What is even more insane is that those numbers were reached only 76 days after being released. That’s more than 1.3 million downloads a day!

Looking more at the monetary side of it, I’m sure the Angry Birds creator is doing just fine in that department. Especially considering that the app costs $0.99 on the iPhone, $2.99 on the iPad, and $4.99 on the Mac App Store. Take those numbers, multiply them by 100 million and you’ve got a good idea of how well off you would have been if you had thought of suicidal birds killing thieving pigs.
