Analyst: iPhone 4S still atop U.S. carrier sales, even Verizon
A recent report that came out has some somewhat unsurprising information to tell us: the iPhone 4S is still the top selling device at the 3 top U.S. carriers (and it most likely would be so on T-Mobile as well, if it had the iPhone). The report published by Michael Walkley, analyst with Canaccord Genuity, says that while Motorola’s latest RAZR MAXX handset is “gaining ground” on the beloved Apple device, it’s believed to have not quite overtaken the iPhone at the largest U.S. carrier (Verizon). This contradicts reports from analyst Anil Doradla of William Blair, who also released a report but stated that the RAZR MAXX has indeed overtaken the iPhone, however only for the month of June thus far.
According to Walkley though, that is not the case. He claims that the latest Moto device has only “[gained] ground” and “hasn’t caught the iPhone.” His research has revealed that the iPhone 4S is (according to his report) the top selling iPhone among all 3 of the major U.S. carriers: Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint for all of 2012 so far. In a note released earlier this month (shown above) Walkley revealed that the iPhone 4S remained more popular than the well known RAZR MAXX and Samsung Galaxy Nexus, which were also found among the top 3 of the other carriers. So while other devices are only starting to gain on the most recent revision of the iPhone, a new one could be just around the corner and released before they get the chance to catch it.
What do you think? Does this help you decide on which device may be for you? Are you a majority or minority device owner? Will they overtake the iPhone sales before Apple releases the next one? Let us know in the comments.

The razr maxx is only on Verizon, not the top 3 carriers. And I read another report of the razr maxx out selling the iPhone for a whole quarter. But it doesnt really matter. As of now for the galaxy s3, with well over 10 million preorders so far, I'm sure it'll bump the iPhone down a notch. I guess it doesn't really matter to anyone besides the manufacturer and carriers how many sold. Its their pockets not yours that are gaining from these sales figures. Your spending your hard earned money for their bragging rights. I believe apple makes good quality products, but once you go Apple they own you. Because everything you do is through apple markets/stores/iTunes, etc.. so bragging about iPhone rules and apples #1 is just securing the fact that they have your nuts in a clamp. They created their world of apple and everything in it so you can't use anything else. They don't give a crap about you, only your money, so why would you care so much about them? I left apple last year because everything costs money and was annoyed by the same phone every year, seeing all these cool phones coming out all the time an the iPhone stays the same with a slight upgrade. Now I have so many options, I haven't paid for a song since I switched, free movies, 3rd party apps, i don't have to pay that stupid high insurance. Its like an addict getting clean, much happier now. So remember, when apple is doing so good. Its because of all your hard earned money your spending for them to post those figures.
