Taller Next-Gen iPhone front panel caught on video

Another day, another iPhone rumor…this time though, there’s video. Japanese blog Macotakara got a hold of both pictures (one of which is shown above) and a video of what is supposedly the front panel of the next generation iPhone. The video goes along with all other rumors that have been circulating so far, indicating that the iPhone will have a taller figure and a larger screen.

By the looks of it and with what rumors are saying, it is supposedly supposed to be around 10mm taller than what the current one is. This roughly falls in line with the leaked schematic yesterday. The phone has been “stretched” upwards, making room for what is supposedly going to be a 4″ screen.

What do you think? Do you like the new design? Are you hoping this is real or are you hoping this is fake? Let us know in the comments.

Why do apple users rag on android so much? I'm an avid Apple user, Iphone 4s and apple macbook pro. And i rarely see Android rag on apple so much

Idk how well 1 hand will work anymore, but I hope it doesn't really change much.

This is ALL BAD... I'm an apple PHan but if this is really the screen of the next phone i'll stick with my 4s...

I'd go back to Android before i got a taller screened iPhone smh

I'm not sure I like it. Bigger screen is fine, even a little bigger phone. I just wish it can be edge to edge. I love the look of the new TV's with it and on the iPhone it be perfect. I hope will see more when finished product comes out

This is ugly. This is not apple at all. I can't say I guarantee it because no one knows for sure, but I can promise it won't be. Btw, it's hideous.

I don't believe these "leaks" are accurate. That design looks stupid, I saw a back plating too in another leak from 9to5mac which seams to point to the same thing.

A taller iPhone.

Impossible, Jony Ive stated that the works he's doing now is his best yet, this is also rumored to be the last design approved by Steve Jobs. It can't be this crap. A taller screen, with the same width, would make the iPhone and Apple look stupid.

Apple has made some strange choices in the past, with the no screen iPod shuffle, but this is different and doesn't feel innovative at all, people want larger screens for larger fonts, the biggest limitation to font size on the iPhone is the width of the screen, if you pinch to zoom you can only stretch the text as wide as the screen is. Being taller doesn't help at all.

Imagine you view a website in landscape mode, it stretches to fit the width, font size gets big and you get to see just a few lines of text on screen.

I refuse to believe anyone in their right mind at Apple would go along with this.

This will not happen.

RaduTanasescu It's probably just a prototype.

*Fingers crossed*

So Apple is now trying to catch up with Android?  Five years ago Apple was the leader.  Now they are the follower which is the same path they took in the 70's and 80's and they nearly went out of business.

Tim0619 yeah it seems like that.

RaduTanasescu 32 pts

Tim0619 You're a bit wrong, in the 80's and 90's Apple saw it's worst decline because Windows offered a similar experience and could be installed on all PC's, plus, Apple started to invest in all sorts of crap that didn't go anywhere.

Now Apples sales are constantly rising, Apple is not trying to catch up to anything, they are the most profitable and expensive company in the U.S., Mac sales are rising, iPhone sales have been constantly rising and iPads are still dominating the tablet market.

That doesn't feel like the "same path" to me. Seams more like a very different path that took them to the top and keeps getting them higher and higher.

RaduTanasescu I agree with you, but you understand that Android offers a similar experience on all phones right? But yes, in terms of profitability they are top.

Tim0619 7 pts

RaduTanasescu Like I said, it's the same path they took in the 70's and 80's.  They were innovative and the leader during that time but then Microsoft came up with windows and made it better than Apple.  Other computer manufacturers started making better computers and Apple started declining.  Also they dumped Steve Jobs in the late 80's and as we all know, he is again not  leading Apple.  As far as Apple sales rising, that isn't true.  The iPhone 4S has been the lowest selling iPhone yet.  Samsung has a better phone and a better tablet now.  I'm not saying Apple isn't a great company and has historically been extremely innovative but now they trying to catch up with Android as evidenced from the rumored larger phone and also the rumor that it will finally be a 4G phone which other manufacturers have had for 18 months.

@Tim0619 @RaduTanasescu A better tablet? Please thats a joke. You know ipad is far superior As far as a phone will see. All the new android phones out seem to Have better specs but that doesn't mean it's used right. Most people I know still like there iPhone better as its a much nicer experience and if a few features could be taken from android to the iPhone then it be perfect. When is a android phone going to truly offer a real revolutionized product? That hits the market and changes the way we use something? They have not yet. They have added features to what apple has given to the world but when does the real innovation come? Then we can talk about how great android is. Until then Apple lives on at the top

Tim0619 It's a totally different story today, sure the smartphone market is booming just like the PC market was back then, but Apple has a smartphone share of about 20 and something percent today, and it's holding steady.

Back then Apple had a much smaller PC market share and it's also making less money. The future wasn't looking good because that small share was rapidly dropping, Macs were also not getting to every country.

Today iPhones are getting everywhere, and I'll tell you what I'm noticing here, in Romania: I've had an Android device, got fed up with it and got an iPhone. The same goes for many of my friends. And everyone I know (except for one guy) want to switch their Android device for an iPhone.

I don't know any figures for international market share, but I'd say Apple is gaining ground. Not to mention that Android is really winning in the low cost department.

It's going down like this: Many got Android device, they liked them, made fun of iSheep (like I did) but after a while the device disappointed far to many times. They just blame the device, not Android so they get the best of the of the best and realize they still have some issues. What do you think they'll buy next?

Once you get an iPhone though you're really not disappointed, and you also invest in apps, music and books, you never go back.

Plus, the final blow that Apple is going to give Android: the iPhone 4 will come free on contract and the 4S will be 99$.

@Tim0619 Changing the screen size does not say they are catching up to anyone. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that people would like bigger screens. When Android phones actually produce something that changes the way we use things then I may agree. The throw out countless phones each month all a little different in terms of features of course there going to add a feature here or there they have to. Larger screen isn't at all count as innovation to me. Sorry

Tim0619 Hey just saying Steve has the company on a 10 year plan so even though he is dead he is still technically running the company. Whether or not the current CEO is following the plan I don't know ,but Steve has designed some of the world's most innovative technology. It would unlike him to have the iPhone 5 be a "follower". I do think it will have a 4" screen but the phone it self wont change. Edge to edge is more Apple's style plus Steve has always kept the 3.5 because he wanted people to be able to use it with one hand. So odds are you will still be able to use one hand despite the bigger screen. So I don't think it will be taller ,shorter ,or bigger just thinner.
