One of the biggest fears of any iPhone user is a shattered screen. It’s something that many of us deal with on a daily basis. Well according to a rumor from Korea Times, the next generation iPhone might solve all of our screen shattering fears. Apparently Samsung has dedicated a number of its factory lines at Tangjeong, South Chungcheong Province, to begin producing flexible OLED displays. Speculation is that they could be used within an iPhone.
“At least that seemed to be what Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Kwon Oh-hyun was hinting at when he revealed that the company is getting “huge’’ orders from electronics makers for it futuristic lineup of flexible organic light emitting diode (OLED) displays.”
Considering how picky Apple is when it comes to the iPhone, especially the Retina Display, it make me extremely hesitant to get my hopes up for this. Especially since Apple seem to prefer LCD technology to AMOLED due to its sharpness, and more realistic color reproduction.
As cool as this is, it should go without saying that every rumor should be taken with a grain of salt. That being said, this is one rumor I would actually like to see come to future iPhones. While I don’t go around throwing my iPhone at the ground, it would be nice for that extra piece of mind in case of a drop. Lets face it, none of us actually plan on dropping our precious iPhones.
So what do you guys think? Is this something you would like to have on your future iPhones? Or would you only want it if Apple maintained the Retina Display quality? Leave a comment down below with your thoughts
