What’s another day without another Apple rumor regarding the size of the iPhone’s screen? Well, that news has already been provided for the day, so how’s an iPod touch rumor instead? MacRumors got a hold of some pictures earlier today that show the iPod touch’s front panel with a noticeably larger area for the screen. They say that the supplier is “claiming that the display would be taller than the current model and that the opening in the front panel measures 4.1 inches diagonally.”
Apple takes pride in the uniformity of its iOS line-up, specifically the iPhone and iPod touch. The company wants people to be able to pick up one or the other and know exactly how to use it. This suggests that if Apple was planning a 4.1″ screen for the next generation iPod touch, it would have similar plans in mind for the iPhone 5. This fits nicely in the mold of “at least four inches” set forth by the Wall Street Journal earlier this month.
Along side the picture of the iPod touch front panels were pictures of a “new” set of cameras for the upcoming iPhone. However, the camera parts were not completely verified, so take them with a grain of salt. The pictures sent to MacRumors were very small, but it can be seen that they are indeed different than the parts used in the current iPhone 4S. Better pictures (one of which is above) were later posted by BadGizmo Repair, and they only confirm that the parts do appear to be different than the current generation hardware. One of the major differences in the image of the back camera is the lack of an LED flash. So add that to the mystery of whether or not these are authentic.
What do you all think? Would you buy a larger iPod touch? Do you want it to be an even larger dimension? Or is the 3.5″ screen perfect for you? Let us know in the comments.
