Rumor: iOS 6 to have a new silver look

Had enough leaks for today? No? Okay, well let me try to satisfy your needs further. You’ve probably already heard of the leaked back panels and the leaked Maps application, so how about a little more to get you over until we finally see iOS 6, hopefully at WWDC. BGR earlier today posted some images of what it is saying is the new Maps application for iOS 6 (picture below). One thing, though, that is almost more interesting than the new application itself, is it’s silver color scheme.

The current version of iOS, and all previous, have included a Maps application that followed the same “blue” color palette found throughout the rest of the operating system. BGR is speculating that this change could indicate a change throughout the rest of the phone as well. At the beginning of this post is a side-by-side comparison of this year and last’s WWDC iOS application that Apple themselves put’s out every year. As is blatantly obvious, there is more silver. Everywhere. From the navigation bar at the top to the task bar at the bottom, everything has been remade in this silver color scheme. One thing to definitely take note of, is how this would unify the color schemes of the iPad and the iPhone’s/iPod touch’s iOS versions. The iPad has been using the silver color scheme since the 1st generation launched; maybe it was an omen of things to come.

What do you think? Do you like the idea of a new silver-fied iOS? Do you think Apple should just stick with the well established, or is it getting boring? Let us know in the comments below.

Looks good. Sleeker. The blue/black mix is definitely old.

This looks a lot like webOS 3.0’s  color scheme.

@Haloruler64 That’s what I think. I’m personally loving the idea of a silver iOS 6.

  • KyleFrost

@MatthewCarrasco Didn’t notice that before, but you’re right, it is slightly reminiscent.

Has apple considered sending out an opinion poll on stuff people want added to ios devices in the future (software or hardware)? It shouldn’t be hard to get true results with the security of their OS. You know, instead of making changes that hardly matter, like a color change -_-

  • DarrenButz

I’d happily welcome this change on my iPod Touch.

  • KyleFrost

@KVKdragon Actually, as an iOS developer, I get sent surveys all the time from Apple. It isn’t specific on many things, but I have seen where in future devices it has taken the survey questions into account.

@KyleFrost @KVKdragon Oh. Forgive my lack of experienced knowledge.

I think that it would be a great change for Apple to make the user interface grey throughout the whole system.
I am starting to get bored of the same old color…blue.

  • MaeganBabcock

    I don’t know.  I like the blue.

  • I wonder if Apple will make this an option to change in settings. Could they start adding in theme options?

  • Tuliomesa82

well their sort of heading in the right direction, start with color themes and make their way to something better

Change it, change is good. The blue is starting to get boring, and they need to change the already neat music app, make it more intuitive and pretty.

Looks brilliant! Can’t wait for iOS6 to be released!!!
