When Apple announced FaceTime in 2010 as the “One more thing…” for the iPhone 4, a lot of people loved it, and a lot of people didn’t. Some were simply disappointed, and hoped something else bigger was coming, such as Verizon support (which would come early the next year) or LTE connectivity. But for those that loved FaceTime, it’s been a great service to use when talking cross-country or even cross-continent. But, as great as FaceTime may be, it can be a bit limiting, only allowing users to talk to only one person at a time.
The updated ooVoo Video Chat application is here fix that problem. The latest version of the app, 1.1.1, is boasting the ability to video chat with a whopping 11 friends on your iPhone or iPad at the same time. Social networking has also been more deeply integrated, allowing users to video chat with Facebook friends directly from your iPhone or iPad. The service supports advertisements, but is free in the App Store for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, so there is nothing to lose if you think this app may be what you are looking for.
Though it may seem impractical to some for having this many people video chatting at the same time, it definitely has its uses as well.
What do you think? Do you use ooVoo? Is this the push it needed to make you give it a try? Or is this just overkill? Let us know in the comments.
