You will all know by now that the latest jailbreak tool for iOS devices has been launched. At long last! Since the dawn of the original jailbreak, the method has become simpler for each new OS update. Although not at the same level of ease as Jailbreak.me was, this is still relatively hassle free.
Before you start, ensure that you’ve backed up your iPhone/iPod or iPad, so as not to lose anything.
Important Notice: If you’re already jailbroken with redsn0w’s tethered solution on iOS 5.1.1, you don’t need to go through this process. You just need to install Rocky Racoon 5.1.1 untether instead. (Search for “Rocky Racoon 5.1.1 untether” in Cydia, and install. You should be good to go.)
1. Download Absinthe 2.0 from Chronic dev team’s blog.
2. Open Absinthe
3. Plug in your iDevice, and make sure that Absinthe has detected the correct device. Then, hit “jailbreak” and let it do its thing. Your phone will look like it’s restoring, which is completely normal. No need for entering DFU mode either.
4. Once it’s done, Absinthe should tell you that it has successfully jailbroken your device and you’ll have a Cydia icon on your home screen.
5. Open Cydia and start tweaking to your heart’s content. This tool will work with iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4 and 4S as well as 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation iPads and 3rd and 4th gen iPod touch.
