App Watch: iTranslate Voice transforms Siri in to interpreter

When Siri was launched last Fall, it was touted as being the future of how we communicate with our iDevices. Despite that, it has been pretty restrictive. In true Apple style, it’s not yet compatible with third party apps, and can only be used for a certain number of tasks. iTranslate Voice aims to make it a whole lot more useful.

iTranslate Voice borrows from Siri’s familiar user interface and voice detection to translate words and phrases in to one of 31 different languages. It gives you meanings, and not only shows you your translation on screen, but speaks it back to you. The app is available now on the App Store, costing $0.99 (for a limited time).

“★ Super accurate voice recognition…
Forget typing… The accuary of our voice recognition is so amazing, that you don’t need your keyboard anymore.

★ Instantly speak 31 languages…

★ Look up words…
Look up definitions and meanings for common words & phrases, just using your voice.

★ Share translations…
Simply click on a translation to copy, mail, text or tweet it.

★ Edit translations…
If you’re old school you can always bring up the keyboard. Simply long click on a Mic and start typing.”

All-in-all it looks an impressive app, especially if you’re keen on learning languages. It could certainly mean the end of useless an unreliable phrase books.
