There’s been a lot of 4-inch iPhone news today, and there have been a few diagrams and images, but nothing like this. A 9to5 Mac reader named Spencer read the story about a 4-inch iPhone and decided to take it one step further with an awesome mockup.
The mockup features an iPhone with the same amount of horizontal pixels, but more vertical pixels than current models resulting in a screen with a resolution of 640 x 1152. That’s not all he did, though. You’ll also notice that the elongated, touch-sensitive home button has once again reared its head. This time, though, I think it looks great. I must admit that I’ve been getting pretty bored with my iPhone recently, and I think this mockup is the perfect balance of new, exciting changes and classic, recognizable iPhone style.
I’ve been hesitant to jump on the the-iPhone-needs-a-bigger-screen bandwagon for a while now, but I think I’m finally getting there. The smaller screen on the iPhone, while still amazingly sharp and colorful, is definitely starting to look a bit dated compared to its competitors. Now, I’m not advocating anything as big as the insane 5.3-inch screen on the Samsung GALAXY Note (seriously, just get a tablet), but I think the next iPhone would do well with a 4-inch Retina display.
What do you guys think? Do you like the look of this mockup, or do you think Apple should stick to the tried-and-true 3.5-inch display its been rockin’ since 2007? Let me know in the comments section below or on twitter.
