A report citied by Reuters late yesterday evening speculates that the next iPhone will sport a huge 4.6″ display – much bigger than the current iPhone’s 3.5″ display. The report was initially written on Korean paper, Maeil Business Newspaper and comes from sources near the supply chain who state that the 4.6-inch display panels have been ordered from suppliers by Cupertino. Samsung and LG – two of Apple’s biggest suppliers – both declined to comment on the report.
It’s all we know so far, and there’s very little to go on here. Personally, I love the Galaxy Nexus’ large display, and if Apple can get the handset form factor right and design it in a way that doesn’t feel bulky, it could be awesome. We all know that the iPhone needs a larger display now – but is 4.6″ too big? Take this with a pinch of salt for now – it’s just a rumor.
