Being an Apple fanboy can be a very expensive obsession. Luckily, Apple just made it a bit easier on your bank account. The company adjusted its Reuse and Recycling Program today to accommodate the tons of people looking to get rid of their iPad 2s in favor of the new iPad, which hits store shelves on Friday.
You can now trade in your
relatively new old iPad in exchange for an Apple Store gift card, which will most likely go right towards the next-gen Apple tablet. I’m usually not a big fan of these trade-in programs simply because the customer usually ends up getting ripped off. And while you still might make more money if you sold your older device independently, Apple’s offerings are pretty good. Check it out:
- iPad 2 Wifi (16GB) — $205
- iPad 2 Wifi + 3G (16GB) — $250
- iPad 2 Wifi (32GB) — $245
- iPad 2 Wifi + 3G (32GB) — $280
- iPad 2 Wifi (64GB) — $275
- iPad 2 Wifi + 3G (64GB) — $320
Of course, this is assuming your iPad is in pristine condition, which it most likely isn’t. I have a 16-gig, Wifi model with slight signs of use one the back and an engraving and my estimate was $120.
Even still, though, if you’re looking to get some quick cash to put towards a new Apple gadget, this is definitely an option to consider. And, as an added bonus, it’s good for the environment… well, it’s better than tossing your old iPad in the garbage.
