Siri is great, but I’ve never really been a fan of her hold-home-button-to-launch feature. It makes you wait and, even though it’s not that much longer than clicking an icon, there is a noticeable difference. Sure, there’s the “Raise to Speak” feature, but come on, no one uses that. I always thought I was being too picky, but apparently I’m not the only one with a problem with how iOS accesses Siri.
A new jailbreak tweak has just hit Cydia called SiriBoard. Once installed, this tweak adds a Siri icon right on your home screen, so all you have to do is quickly tap the icon to access your iPhone’s digital assistant.
This tweak may seem trivial to some, but for people who use Siri a lot, this could be a real asset. I’ve always thought that it’s the little things like this that can really make or break a user’s experience with a device on a day-to-day basis.
Like I said, this tweak is available in Cydia now and it’s totally free, so if this sounds like something you’d be interested in, there’s no harm in giving it a try. Of course, you’ll need an iPhone 4S for this to work – unfortunately this tweak can’t install Siri onto a device, just change the way it’s launched on a device with Siri already installed.
