Review

Poor battery life is one of those things that everyone hates, but puts up with anyways. Don’t get me wrong, I love my iPod touch, but sometimes I wish I wasn’t always connected to a wall outlet. Whenever I do any gaming, I can literally watch my battery life drain away, and I start asking myself if Tiny Wings is really worth it. Lucky for me, I came across the Kuel f60Q battery pack.

This little guy is about the size of a stick of butter, yet it packs 6000mAh. Not only that, but it is a 10w charger which means your iPhone or iPad will be done in no time. I will get to functionality in a sec, but I just want to take a minute and talk about the style. I am a minimalist at heart (part of the reason I am drawn to Apple) and the design of this battery makes me extremely happy. It is basically a white cube shaped device with a USB port at one end and a power button, 4 lights, and a little door at the end. On top there is an embossed SGP logo. That’s it. It is one of the few things that I will actually let hang out with my iPod. Like I said, there are four LEDs that all light up blue; they indicate the charge amount and the last one turns red when you need to charge the pack. Underneath the door you have a OS setting switch (iOS or Android) and a micro USB for charging the battery pack itself. The switch changes the power output, optimizing it for your specific device. Simple, minimal, pure; it is the perfect complement to any Apple device.

Performance wise, it is just as good. I was able to at least double the life of my iPod before having to charge the Kuel. The fact that it is a 10W charger means that the charging is fast, and because it is a Samsung SDI 6000mAh battery, it can hang with the best of them. I took it with me on a recent trip to Tahoe and it helped a friend and me stay charged on the car ride. Plus, since there is an OS switch, my friends with Android phones could also get a battery boost.

Overall I am very pleased with the Kuel battery back. Despite being incredibly small, it is surprisingly powerful. At $124 dollars it is going to set you back a little, but if you think about it, that is not terribly bad. I definitely think it is worth the money and is the perfect addition to any iPhone survival kit or travel pack. Whether you need a full charge or are just topping up, the Kuel f60Q has you covered.
