It’s taken its time, but, Apple and China Telecom are finally ready to begin selling the iPhone 4S. There have been many stumbling for the partnership to go ahead, mostly needing to gain approval from the governing bodies in the world’s most populous nation. China Telecom is China’s 3rd largest carrier, but don’t let that fool you in to thinking it won’t make a huge difference. Chinese consumers have been hungry for the iPhone since launch, many I’m sure will skip carriers just to get it. We saw it in the US, as many knew that although AT&T’s coverage was far from perfect, they jumped onboard anyway.
The iPhone 4S will be launched on China Telecom in the next month.
BEIJING – China Telecom Corp Ltd, the nation’s third-largest mobile operator, revealed it may launch the code division multiple access (CDMA) version of Apple Inc’s iPhone 4S in the Chinese mainland as early as February.
What will be interesting: seeing how much of a difference being in the Chinese market will help iOS’ market share battle with Google’s Android platform.
