Hong Kong iPhone 4S lines broken up by cops
This week, on Friday, Hong Kong residents will finally get the chance to purchase the latest and greatest iPhone. Tech fans have been lining up since Tuesday afternoon, unfortunately though, scalpers are in on the act too. The professional line sitters are employed to get in line for the launch and will normally buy as many handsets as they can get their hands on. These devices will then be sold for a premium once the store is out of stock.
As usual, the scalpers have been threatening those in line, trying to cut in. Police got involved, removed the offenders – who them promptly returned once the officers went away. Normal customers were distressed at being threatened. The queuing got so bad that the police sent everyone home eventually, for them to return today, with stricter enforcement. This should mean that fewer scalpers get in the way of genuine customers wanting to buy the 4S.
