Box.net offers 50 gigs of storage for free. Get ‘em while they’re hot!

Every iCloud user gets a complementary 5 gigs of storage, courtesy of Apple. That’s nice. If you want to store more than 5 gigs of pictures, documents, or whatever else, though, it’ll cost you. That is, unless you bypass Apple all together and head over to Box.net!

For the next 50 days, Box.net is giving iOS users 50 gigabytes of storage totally free with no fine print. Just awesomeness. That means that, once you claim your 50 free gigabytes of storage, you have it for life. Better yet, this deal is open to anyone!

According to the company’s website,

“As evidenced by the overwhelming crowds during past iPhone and iPad launches, it’s clear that our lives revolve around mobile. That’s why we’re happy to announce that we’re giving away 50 GB of free storage to anyone who uses a Box Personal account on an iOS device. That’s right, it’s 50 GB in the cloud completely free, forever. Your 50 GB of storage isn’t just limited to your mobile device – you get it anywhere you use your Box account, like on your laptop at home or your desktop at the office.”

I’m not sure why Box.net is doing such a thing (though I suspect it’s an attempt to steal customers away from Dropbox), but I’m certainly not complaining.

The promotion begins Friday at 12:01 A.M., so don’t forget to claim your 50 gigs!
