Jailbreak Tuesday: Brightness Icons review
Burn baby burn! That’s exactly what your battery is constantly doing on your iPhone. One way of helping preserve that precious battery life is by turning down the screen brightness. Now, in the jailbreak community there are many different applications and tweaks that allow you to alter your brightness in a variety of different ways. Today we are looking at a simple tweak that creates two icons on your springboard to control your brightness. Tap one and the brightness goes up, tap the other and the brightness goes back down.
The icons that are added to the SB are pretty standard – nothing too flashy, but nothing repulsive either. The icons do the job they are suppose to do. However, that being said, they don’t always act as standard icons should. My one issue with the Brightness Icons tweak is the fact that you can’t rearrange the icons it installs by holding them down and making ‘em wiggle like you can with all the other icons in iOS. You actually have to hold down another application to get the icons to wiggle. From there, though, you can drag them wherever you like (I recommend multi icon mover).
I’m sure some people won’t be too pleased with this because you have to go to the springboard to use it. I personally find myself on the springboard quite often, so the fact that this tweak is based there is no big stink. What’s more, it’s not nearly as time consuming as navigating to the springboard, choosing settings and then choosing brightness. It’s just too many steps for such a simple task.
Brightness Icons is free and can be found in Cydia in the modmyi repo.
