iOS 5 apps already approved – launch imminent?

When Apple demoed iOS 5 a couple months ago, they really made it sound incredible. Notifications center, tabbed browsing, WiFi sync… the list goes on and on. Obviously customers were more than a bit eager to download the iOS update. Though, when pressed for a release date, the only thing Jobs&Co. could give us was “in the fall.”

Luckily, though, it appears iOS 5 will be going live sooner rather than later. Cult of Mac has published some screenshots of App Store update windows that contain some very interesting descriptions. The first is an App called Camera+ and, according to the developer, the app has,

“Compatibility with that upcoming OS That Must Not Be Named.”

The second application, Mashable!, takes a more direct route by just listing “iOS 5 Compatible” right at the top of the description.

I can’t imagine that Apple, with such stringent rules and guidelines, would allow the applications to go public if iOS 5 wasn’t too far off. And although it’s entirely possible that this is just a mistake on Apple’s part (remember the flashlight app that secretly enabled tethering?), I’m going to go the optimistic route and say that we will see iOS 5 within the next month.

What do you guys think? Is this just another App Store blunder, or is the launch of iOS 5 imminent? Let me know your thoughts on the matter in the comments section below or on twitter.

The release date for the ios 5 is on the 21/8/2011 and the official showcase for the 2/09/2011.

I think there will be two more betas and then a launch...I have been using the beta and there are still a few things they need to work out in the camera and messaging apps

I have problems with iOS 5 beta 4 also. When I take pictures in the messaging app, the bar for me to type and send goes missing.

I hope it is within a month I can't wait
