Its not unheard of for people to camp out in front of stores to get the latest products as soon as they are available. You see it outside clothing stores and electronic stores around the holidays all the time. But only at an Apple store would you see a man getting in line for an unannounced product a month before it is scheduled to come out.

Well that man is Rob Shoesmith, a marketer from the UK. Apparently he is planned to spend weeks in line out front of an Apple store, but not just for the phone. This stunt is almost an entrepreneurial venture of sorts. Realizing that with the amount of public WiFi and power outlets, he could do his job from anywhere, he asked himself, why not go wait in a line?

He is taking full advantage of being “the-guy-waiting-for-a-month-in-line” to the point where he has opted to leave all of his money at home and just rely on gifts and sponsors. So far…it’s really working. He has received probably in the range of tens of thousands of dollars of various things like the use of a car, solar powered iPhone chargers, web cams, shampoo, boxes of candy and what every street camper needs…a box of garden gnomes. Right now his goal is to get a body guard to watch his stuff while he sleeps.

He could build an army

Imagine if the iPhone doesn’t come out in September! All that wait for nothing. But then again he is making out like a bandit with all of this free swag. Plus he will forever have the claim to fame as being the guy who got tons of press coverage for sitting in line. Regardless of an iPhone launch, this guy is a winner.
