AT&T preparing for “really, really busy” October – iPhone 5 launch?

Take this with a pinch of salt (or two if you fancy). BGR reports that a top level AT&T source has heard from the carrier’s Vice President, that the iPhone 5 will be launching in the early part of October. The VP allegedly sent the following message to AT&T managers: “Expect things to get really, really busy in the next 35-50 days, so prepare your teams accordingly.”

Obviously this sounds a lot like “iPhone 5 is coming, so make sure you’re prepared!” Of course, there’s the possibility that this message never existed, and was fabricated. But, if it is genuine, there’s only one thing that causes this much focus on getting organized. Only one product can produce the expectancy to be very busy, and that’s a new iPhone.

This time frame certainly fits in with what we’ve been expecting so far, so we’ll go with this one, for now. Obviously nothing happens until Steve Jobs announces it on stage, but we can speculate for now.

No one ever promised 4G… Besides, Apple has to support both Verizon and AT&T equally, that way it doesn’t seem like they favor one carrier over the other. Plus, there’s always the possibility that the rumors may be true, and another carrier might get added into the equation. The simple fact is that AT&T can’t support 4G yet, and it probably won’t until the FCC says yes to purchasing T-Mobile (no guarantees). However, Verizon can support 4G, as can Sprint, and T-Mobile. Also, a while back, Apple released a statement saying that we wouldn’t be seeing a 4G iPhone anytime soon, due to physical hardware requirements. That being said, the dual Qualcomm chip (which would support both GSM and CDMA technologies) has been rumored to solve this issue, allowing for a 4G iPhone theoretically, if it proves true. One last thing, chances are it would be called the “iPhone 4G” (not “iPhone 5″ or “iPhone 4S”) if the next iPhone does support 4G, for the sake of consistency (remember the iPhone 3G?). Don’t forget, nothing is set in stone until CEO Steve Jobs gets on that stage for his keynote presentation and says so. Although, it’s likely that you are correct as far as when this will occur. The Semptember-October range seems to be accurate.

Uum they are rolling out their lte network starting end of aug so no they don’t have to wait until the fcc rules on the tmo merger. Do a little research first. http://techcrunch.com/2011/05/25/att-to-roll-out-lte-coverage-to-five-new-markets-this-summer/

iPhone 4G sound ok but iPhones tend to come out according to its OS so if iOS 5 is coming as is then it would be the best thing to name the next iPhone iPhone 5
