iPad 2 supply has finally caught up to demand
When the iPad 2 first shipped in early March, the device was frustratingly elusive with a shipping time of 3-4 weeks and almost no supply in retail stores. That may not sound too bad now, but when you’re waiting for your shiny new iPad to arrive, it feels like an eternity.
Luckily, however, Apple finally appears to be producing enough iPad 2s to meet demand. A few weeks ago we told you that Apple had lowered shipping times for the iPad 2 to 3-5 business days. Now I’m happy to report wait times have just been shortened again down to 1-3 days. If you were thinking about getting an iPad, now is the perfect time do place your order.
This is a big relief for Apple stock holders, who have been worried that Apple would not be able to keep supply in-line with demand. Though, after the long struggle, it looks like Apple was finally able to catch up.
With Apple’s quarterly earnings call is coming up, it will be interesting to see just how many second-gen iPads have sold this quarter. Though, because the improved shipping time is a fairly recent development, sales may still be lower than previously expected. But who cares about all this stock talk anyways!? What really matters is that your future iPad 2 could be leaving en route to your door in 1-3 days.
Is this new shipping time more enticing? Are you going to get one now? Let us know in the comments or by sending me a tweet.
